Call of Duty: Black Ops
- "A lie is a lie. Just because they write it down and call it history doesn't make it the truth. We live in a world where seeing is not believing. We live in a world where everything we know is wrong."
- — Frank Woods in the world premier trailer
Another jewel in the crown of ever so popular Call of duty gaming franchise has launched recently.
COD: Black Ops is an answer to Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, although it takes place in a different time - the Cold War. Black Ops is the tale of operatives that are so deep under cover, that the government they work for will deny their very existence if they are discovered.
All of the maps, challenges, and weapons are different. The multiplayer version of the game gives gamers a lot of chances to work cooperatively, both in person and via the internet

The confirmation of the game's development was leaked by David Kim, a senior animator at Treyarch, in May 2009. Black Ops is set in various locations, including Vietnam and Cuba. Black Ops will be much grittier than Modern Warfare 2 and that the differences between World at War and Black Ops will be as significant as the differences between Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The trailer released on May 18, 2010 indicated that the game will be significantly more story-oriented and will focus on military cover-ups during the Cold War. Treyarch has also said that Black Ops will feature considerably more stealth than any previous entries in the Call of Duty series.
Call of Duty Black Ops sales figures
" Call of Duty: Black Ops sets new first-day sales record, beats Modern Warfare 2. 5.6 million copies sold in one day !!! "
$360 million, folks. That's reportedly the final tally on Call of Duty: Black Ops' first-day sales, making it the single highest-grossing launch in entertainment history.
The announcement isn't extremely surprising and confirms what many expected, though some skeptics weren't sure if the game could pull it off. There's nothing to be skeptical about now.
Activision has said that it sold 5.6 million copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops in its first day, beating Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's previous launch-day record of 4.7 million units.
It will certainly be some time before any game manages to capture that many launch sales again... like, until the next Call of Duty is released.
